About Us
The Ames (Iowa) Camera Club is a community group for those interested in photography — the fun, the artistry, sometimes the gadgetry. The membership ranges from professionals to complete beginners. We all have something to learn from each other.
Meetings are generally held the second Thursday of each month between September and May, at 7 p.m. in the Community Room upstairs in the Ames Public Library. Topics in the past have included presentations by wildlife, news and sports photographers, discussions about photography techniques, and software tutorials; sometimes we gather just to show each other pictures we've taken.

Announcements
- The annual Story County Conservation "Partners" photo contest will be accepting entries in just a few weeks. This year for the first time they are also offering cash prizes. See the rules and official announcement here.
- Walden Photo is reopening! Well, not exactly, but for all practical purposes. Judd Furlong has announced that the same staff will be resuming business Monday, January 5 at 9:30 am, under the business name "Photosynthesis."
- Did you get some good pictures this fall? Get a few printed, and put them into competition! We are planning a club contest with the theme "Fall." (Members only! If you're not a member, it's fairly inexpensive to join.) The judging will take place at the February 2009 meeting.

All meetings are free to the public; there is no charge to attend. You will, however, need to join before entering the club's contests or exhibitions. For details please contact Luke Healey, or you can ask pretty much anyone at one of the regular meetings.
We are a member of the North Central Camera Club Council, which encourages activity among the various regional clubs and organizes contests.
